The Colleton County School Board has nominated an acting superintendent Thursday, after the superintendent was fired Tuesday night.
Dr. Franklin Foster, director of human resources, will act as acting superintendent until the board can elect an interim superintendent.
The school board voted 4-3 Tuesday night to fire the former superintendent, Leila Williams. Williams had served the district since 2009.
There have been complaints that Williams was treated unfairly, but one school board member who voted to fire Williams says she was not moving the district in the right direction. Allegations had also been made concerning legal issues in the last 6-to-8 months.
As a part of her severance package, Williams will receive a year's salary. Officials say Williams was making about $125,000 per year.
