The Charleston Police Department has confirmed that a vehicle was found in the water off of Harbor View Rd. on James Island, early Wednesday morning.

Right now, the CPD Dive Team and Harbor Patrol are en route to the James Island Creek Bridge on Harbor View Road near North Shore Drive for a vehicle recovery.

A woman drove her vehicle off the bridge, damaging the bridge's eastern railing. The vehicle sank in the creek, but the woman climbed out of the water with only minor injuries.

At this time, it is not believed that any other victims are in the submerged vehicle. The woman was not intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Dive units from the North Charleston Police Department and the Charleston County Sheriff's Office are assisting, and James Island Fire Dept., EMS, and Rescue are assisting. The NCFD fire boat is also responding to serve as a dive platform.

Charleston County dispatch says the call came in for responders at around 11:30pm Tuesday.

Harbor View Rd. remains closed between North Shore Drive and Harbor View Circle.

We will continue to bring you the latest details as they become available.
