ST. STEPHEN, SC -
After a day-long search, the suspect wanted for allegedly kidnapping a girl and her mother from Berkeley County has been found

Telly McClam, 36, was found in Lane, SC, about five miles away from where authorities began the search for McClam after he led police on a chase and then fled on foot to a wooded area. Close to 75 different people from more than ten agencies assisted with the search.

According to the Williamsburg County Sheriff, a neighbor called 911 after seeing a man who patched McClam's description walking into a home. When authorities reported to the scene, they realized the home belong to some of McClam's relatives who told police they missed the suspect by five minutes. Then, around 10 p.m. Monday, McClam was caught walking along some railroad tracks.

Sheriff Michael Johnson said McClam surrendered without incident but was armed with a revolver. Officials say it is likely that the suspect was attempting to board a train out of town.

Earlier Monday, authorities say McClam kidnapped a girl and her mother from two separate Berkeley County homes. Family of the victims say that McClam and the were mother were dating until the suspect allegedly attacked one of the mother's daughters.

Authorities said they were in Williamsburg County interviewing some family of McClam when they saw his car. Johnson said there was a pursuit. McClam then got out of the car, leaving the two victims and ran into a wooded area on foot.

The two victims were taken to MUSC.

McClam is back in Berkeley County facing two kidnapping charges. Williamsburg officials said they may charge McClam criminal sexual conduct and burglary, following an investigation.

He is a registered sex offender who spent 15 years in prison on kidnapping and 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct. McClam pleaded guilty to those charges in 1999 and was released from prison in 2012.

Berkeley County officials said McClam's bond court hearing is set for Tuesday evening. There is still no word on the victims' conditions.
