The 18 year old has been playing golf since she was just a little girl. "I've been playing for like twelve years," says Katelyn. "It's something I picked up with my Dad and I just got a love for the game."

From a sport to play with Dad, to now an athletic scholarship with the Gamecocks, Katelyn has been recognized as one of the top junior players in the nation. And according to her, living in the Lowcountry, surrounded by beautiful golf courses, certainly helped. "There are so many great golf courses, and the professionals and staff out here, they really support junior golf and it makes it so much better. Charleston is my favorite place to play golf."

Dambaugh has traveled all over playing, even coming in runner up at the 2010 US Girls Junior Golf Championship. She has nine state titles from her high school career, from both basketball and golf, including titles while playing with the boys golf teams. Katelyn says, being able to play with the boys, and keep up, has only made her better. "I like it so much better, it makes me a better golfer and more competitive."

Dambaugh has spent her entire summer playing with boys, practicing alongside Austin Cody, another former Pinewood Prep golfer, who now plays for Duke. Cody will be caddying for Katelyn as she plays in the US Women's Amateur Championship, being held at the Country Club of Charleston in August. From there, Dambaugh heads to the University of South Carolina, where she will only continue to work hard, and dream big.
