Power outages a growing problem in the Lowcountry due to winter storm

 
Officials report almost 137,000 electric cooperative members in
South Carolina are without power.

Berkeley Electric Cooperative line crews are continuing to respond to the outages throughout Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties.

SCE&G crew members have been mobilized and are working to restore power to those in need as the winter storm continues impacting SCE&G's service territory.

"Our crews are seeing a large number of down trees covered with ice, bringing down lines," said Keller Kissam, president of retail operations for SCE&G. "We appreciate our customers' patience during this time, and crews will continue working as conditions allow in the face of inclement weather until power is restored for every last customer."
