The community is invited to join the department and family members as we pause to reflect on the tragic loss of June 18th, 2007. Parking at the site will be limited during the ceremony. Visitors are encouraged to utilize various off-site parking in the immediate area.

News 2 will live stream the remembrance ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Charleston fire personnel will initiate a watch at the flagpole of the memorial site starting at midnight and continuing for the 24 hours of June 18th. Members of the community are welcome to visit the site throughout the vigil.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation recently released a video entitled "Charleston 9: The Ultimate Sacrifice". The documentary focused on the recovery of the Charleston Fire Department after the Sofa Super Store incident. The twenty-five minute documentary provides an overview of the department's changes and improvements over the last six years.

We hope the community will watch the video to gain a better understanding of the tremendous accomplishments achieved by the department while remembering the sacrifices endured by family members and the members of the CFD.
