Warming centers and shelters in the Lowcountry

 The service will begin at 3:00 p.m. today. Service will be provided until the roadways are no longer safe for travel.

 

Riders will be transported to the closest available “Warming Center”.   Citizen’s with special needs may request transportation assistance by calling The Charleston County Citizen’s Information Line:  843-746-3900 (English)

The Red Cross warming shelter in Bluffton will open Tuesday at 4p.m. and remain open until Thursday morning if needed.  The shelter will be located at Lowcountry Presbyterian Church at 10 Simmonsville Road.

The Red Cross has also partnered with Sea Island Presbyterian Church on Lady's Island to open a shelter at that church at 81 Lady's Island Drive Tuesday at 4p.m. That shelter will remain open until Thursday morning if needed.

The Red Cross warming shelter in Walterboro will open at 5p.m today and remain open until Thursday morning if needed. That shelter will be located at Colleton Middle School at 1379 Tuskegee Airman Drive.

Crisis Ministries & Palmetto House will open more areas of their facility for guests to escape the cold when the temperature is forecast to be 40 degrees or lower. ADA Compliant  Crisis Ministries: 573 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29403  Palmetto House (no men): 107 Elks Lodge Lane Summerville, SC 29483

Antioch Community Ministries 1250 Central Ave. Summerville 875-2518  Small warming center- NO BEDS - open at 5pm (doors close at 9pm) Monday - Friday 1/31  ADA Compliant     

Charleston County Sheriff's Office Camp Facility, Leeds Ave in North Charleston Opening Tues - Fri 5pm-9am till 1/31  Large warming shelter at the work camp facility on next to the Sheriff Cannon Detention Center.  They will NOT do background checks - anyone can come and spend the night.  They will have beds, showers, food & medical staff on site.  CARTA will provide FREE transportation to THIS warming shelter.  CARTA will be making a constant loop at the following locations throughout the night:  Meeting and Columbus  Meeting and Lee  Meeting and John near the visitor's center  The Carta bus stop on Spring St near the McDonalds (230 Spring St)  Across the street from TriCounty Family Ministries (3349 Rivers Ave, North Charleston)   The Carta bus stops surrounding Goodwill on Rivers (6607 Rivers Ave, North Charleston)      

Unity Baptist church 950 Whipple Rd. in Mt. Pleasant 884-7144  Will open at 6pm (doors close 9pm) Tuesday & Wednesday nights till 9am.  You are asked to bring blankets. Unity Baptist will provide Coffee, hot chocolate & limited food. There will also be security at the church. ADA Compliant     
    
Hibben United Methodist Church 690 Coleman Blvd. Mt. Pleasant 843-884-9761  Tues. Jan 28th - Thurs. Jan 30th Open 7pm -7am: No pets. Dinner will be served.  Christian Life and Learning Center - Vincent Rd.  690 Coleman Blvd. Mt. Pleasant (Behind the Oops Store)
