CHARLESTON, SC - A significant, and potentially historic, winter storm continues to impact the Palmetto State Thursday morning.
As of Thursday an Ice Storm Warning is in effect for all of the Lowcountry through the morning. Since yesterday, ice amounts from around 1/10" around Charleston to greater than 3/4" near I-95 have occurred. Areas of freezing rain, and perhaps some sleet or snow, will continue across the warned area through the morning, particularly away from the coast. Only additional light amounts are anticipated at this time.
This is a potentially life-threatening situation. Power outages are quite widespread inland, and could potentially last for days near and west of I-95. You should avoid the outdoors if at all possible as the risk of falling limbs, trees, and power lines continues to be quite high.
