Yes is entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - as a guest.
The progressive rockers will be on hand at the Cleveland museum Tuesday night as the latest subject in the Rock Hall's Legends Series. For the event Yes frontman Jon Davison, keyboardist Geoff Downes, drummer Alan White, bassist Chris Squire, and guitarist Steve Howe will take the main stage for an interview with the museum's director of education. Band members will also field questions from the audience.
Yes has been eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1994, but has never even appeared on the ballot. But that's something Howe takes in stride. He tells Cleveland's "Plain Dealer" he doesn't "lose any sleep over it," calling trophies "secondary."
He explains that a great performance is about the music, not the performer. The rocker adds that a big ego isn't necessarily a good thing for an artist, because sometimes it "impinges on if not destroys some of the music."
